#RMHCNABlockParty

rmhcnablockparty

June 26 marked a fabulous day for one of our clients: the annual Ronald McDonald House Charities® Northern Alberta or RMHCNA block party. VC3 was happy to attend this year’s festivities as a booth sponsor. Here is a little run down from the day’s events.

As we pulled in to set up the VC3 booth, wonderful people in green volunteer shirts waved us in with a grin. The sense of community started literally at that moment and lasted until all the tables were packed up at the end of the day.

We set up beside our friends at the Edmonton Public Library. It was so great to see them there promoting their educational products. We loved being a part of the #3skillsyeg series with them and hosting our very own cloud academy earlier this year.

A wave of people entered as soon as it hit 11:00 am. We were ready with our cloud colouring booth and children’s toy giveaways. The entire day we had kids come to our booth to colour their clouds. It was very busy throughout the afternoon. But the hustle and bustle soon came to a standstill when the Disney princesses arrived.

Yes, that’s right, Ariel, Jasmine, Belle, Cinderella, Snow White, and more. All of your favourite Disney princesses taking pictures and sharing hugs with all the kids in our booth. This was probably one of my favourite moments of the day – I am a sucker for princesses. A huge shout out here for Positively Princess’d, an entertainment group that brings these characters to life for non-profits. They really stole the show.

Throughout the very hot, 29-degree day, the volunteers made sure we had plenty of water. The care and consideration of all involved in the event was truly a step beyond.

I also have to point out how much amazing food was available. Chicken sausages, pasta, pizza, freezies, lemonade, iced tea, popsicles, and more. As far as an affordable family event, this was definitely one not to be missed! You made your donation at the gates, of course, and I hope everyone who was able to donate did. All the amazing yummy foods were free. Yes free. In support of the Ronald McDonald House, they really stepped up, and I applaud all those who stood by BBQs and cooking equipment on such a hot day.

Now as a fellow musician myself, I have to talk about the entertainment. Alberta Music really put on a show in support of this Block Party event. Samantha King – wow, girl, you got pipes. When Captain Tractor played, we had dancing kids with crayons in their hands in our booth. Gateway Chorus also sang a barbershop mash-up Happy Birthday to the Birthday Club kids. The quality of the music, the sound, and the stage were so well done. It totally kept the pace of the day at a high energy level and was a highlight of the event.

I do also have to say it was great to see the community support from Sarah Hoffman, Deputy Premier, Minister of Health, and MLA for Edmonton-Glenora, MP Amarjeet Sohi, and City Councillor Bev Esslinger. They came and shook our hands, and thanked us for being a part of the event. What wonderful support for the RMHCNA from them and the entire Edmonton community.

It was great to see and an honour to be part of. Here's to next year!

Let's talk about how VC3 can help you AIM higher.
