Royal Glenora: Office 365 Exchange Migration and Hybrid Cloud Scenario.


Their Story:

In 1961, three clubs—the Glenora Skating and Tennis Club, the Braemar Badminton Club, and the Royal Curling Club—joined together to become the Royal Glenora Club. Since then, The Royal Glenora has been dedicated to enriching their members’ lives. Inside you will find a safe family environment, a welcoming community atmosphere, and a level of personalized service that can only be found in a private club.


The Royal Glenora wanted a smoother flow of information in their day-to-day operations. They wanted to improve overall email functionality and performance and gain enterprise level email filtering and security features. They were also experiencing server crashes that brought their office to a halt. Staff was finding it hard to work on the server due to storage constraints and they were creating documents on local devices rather than on the shared server platform. A move to Office 365 had the goal to reduce load on hardware by removing Exchange from their Small Business Server (a server that has everything on one) and improve current performance and stability.

The Challenge:

The Royal Glenora needed as little downtime as possible, their staff had to be up and online first thing in the morning after the conversion, and they needed mobile devices to get email service ASAP.

The Solution:

CompuVision completed the necessary data migration and server work after hours to ensure we wouldn’t cause any issues during business hours. The cutover was scheduled for a Sunday night, and we had two Technology Guides on-site first thing in the morning to make sure their computers and phones would be setup quickly. For mobile devices, we made sure they had easy to follow documentation for setting up their devices if staff weren’t in the office, and they could call into the service desk for assistance. Removing the Exchange (email) from the server and putting it into the cloud reduced the load on the server. The migration has vastly reduced email spam, and issues with malicious emails getting through to staff inboxes.
